Director of Intelligence
You can’t put me in a box (tougher people have tried). I’m part science fan, part web geek and yet somehow I have highly developed social skills.
Given the option to choose my title I went with director of intelligence – simply because it sounded much cooler than director of research.
I have one foot in the past with my love of traditional Chinese medicine (of which I am a doctor) and one foot in the present with my deep love of the web.
I have successfully run my own businesses for the past eight years, including a private health clinic, a niche event management company and now digitalmud. Also watch this space for a new ecommerce venture coming soon.
I believe businesses are organic, a collection of people coming together to create and change an environment. As such, I believe businesses need to be viewed holistically.
My background, while seemingly nothing to do with larger businesses, (I have definitely done the corporate thing with Polaroid, P&O and Hyatt to name-drop a few) means that I am able to listen and ask direct questions that can really help uncover the points of pain in your company.
My thing is complex problem solving. I love to bring order and structure to a massive jumble of information and distill it into a set of actionable, practical and evidence-based insights. I call on my background in science and as a Prince2 project management practitioner to bring rigour to this process.
I am fascinated by what people say about brands, services and products online and I revel in using this information to create useful, practical insights and recommendations to help businesses grow and develop.
Oh, and yes I am an Aussie – and I really do come from Wagga Wagga.
